Step 2 of 5 · The gift we could never earn

Grace

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9

Heaven is not a reward for the best people; it is a gift from a generous God, offered freely through Jesus Christ.

Grace means undeserved favour. The road to heaven is not paved by our own goodness but opened by God's kindness. In the parable of the workers in the vineyard, those who came at the last hour received the same wage as those who worked all day (Matthew 20:1-16).

On the cross, Jesus carried what we could not carry. "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Grace meets us before we clean ourselves up.

Receiving grace frees us from striving to earn love, and it changes us from the inside, teaching us to live with gratitude, humility and generosity (Titus 2:11-12).

Write down one thing you have been trying to earn from God. Hand it back to Him in prayer and thank Him that it is already given.
